The Domestic Cat: An Introduction to The Deep Sides of The Mysterious Feline

The cat in general

Cat

The cat is a very affectionate and very sweet feline. Most of the time, the cat sleeps, eats, walks, hunts ... its curiosity is limitless. The cat is a sign to the success of nature. It's a perfect animal in almost everything about it, from the nose to the tail and beyond, all tells how harmonious this creature is! It owes nothing to anyone, gives much and requires little.

Cat sleep

Sleeping cat

To sleep, cats like warm places: the corner of the fire, a sunny windowsill, next to the central heating and the boiler. Wild or domestic, cats spend much of their lives sleeping. A cat sleeps around 16 hours a day. He spends 2/3 of his day sleeping.

The Skeleton, Balance and Claws.

The anatomy of the skeleton of the domestic cat: the skeleton of the cat is more flexible than ours. The vertebrae of the spine are closely interrelated than ours and it has only a clavicle embryo.
The spatial balance of the cat: cats have a much better sense of balance than humans. The cat uses his tail as a pendulum. For example, if a cat walks on the narrow edge of a wall and decides to take a look, it will automatically swing its tail in the opposite direction and thus avoid falling.
The claws: to cut the claws, hold the cat firmly between your knees; Press the pads with your fingers to release the claws from their cases. The main part contains the pink vein which contains the nerves and which must not be cut. It is the white end of the claw made of dead tissues that should be cut.

Food and feeding

cat food

A well-behaved cat must not be capricious about the food it is offered, even if it is more delicate and refined than many humans with regard to the freshness and cleanliness of food. Do not make the mistake of making it a spoiled and unhealthy child by exclusively feeding it in boxed foods of its favorite brand. To be fit, he needs a varied and balanced diet.

How does the cat's digestive system work?

In the mouth of the cat, the food is cut by the teeth and mixed with saliva. It then passes into the esophagus and from there  into the stomach, which hides the gastric juice. Reduced to porridge, it reaches the duodenum, then the small intestine, added to the bile from the vesicle, digests the food. Once dissolved, the nutrients pass into the blood that carries them to the liver. The waste continues its journey to the large intestine and is dropped by the anus.

The intestine of the cat

The length of the cat's intestine is four times that of its body. Its intestine is shorter than that of omnivores, dog or human, but it is longer than that of other carnivores. Indeed, its initial morphology has undoubtedly been transformed to adapt to the eating habits of man.

The Age of the Cat in Relation to Man

The cat and her kittens

The pregnancy lasts about nine weeks, or 65 days but the kittens can also be born a week before or a week after. Those born before 58 days are likely to be stillborn or very weak. It is actually a miscarriage. Those who are born after 71 days are likely to be larger than normal and prone to stillbirth too.
Signs of pregnancy: Rosacea of nipples in the third week of pregnancy, progressive weight gain of one to two kilos according to the number of kittens, swelling of the abdomen (do not tap it to feel the fetus, you could hurt them), changing the behavior (looking more and more maternal) ...
Estimating the date of delivery: when we do not know the date of birth, determining it is not easy. It takes about six weeks after the pinking of the nipples.

The kittens

The birth: when the moment of birth arrives, a mysterious clock triggers a signal in the body of the pussy ordering the glands to produce the hormone necessary for the expulsion of the kittens from the uterus. The average weight of the kittens: At birth, they weigh 70 to 135 g, one month 260 to 520 g, and two months, 400 to 880 g. week after week, kittens grow. After six months, defenseless babies became independent cats. As they grow up, they raise better control of their bodies, discover new skills and begin to hunt and play.
Feeding kittens: up to the age of three weeks, they feed on breast milk. You can then introduce solid meals while keeping a cup of milk or water at their disposal. At eight weeks, the kitten weaned, it eats like an adult cat.
What you should not do: do not take cats by the skin of the neck, do not give cow's milk to the little ones, do not take the kittens away from their mother before six weeks, do not let them leave before their first vaccinations.

Conclusion

The human race can be summarily divided into two broad categories: those who love cats and those who do not have that chance. Anyway, the cat has always deeply marked the human soul. Fearful or worshiped, beloved or exterminated, it has always, over the centuries, assumed great importance for man.
